New string: Country star Carrie Underwood makes her big screen debut playing an inspiring church leader in Soul Surfer


Carrie Underwood has cemented her legacy in the music world having won numerous awards and sold millions of albums.

Now the country singer is trying her hand at acting in the upcoming movie Soul Surfer.

Carrie has a starring role in the film about a teenage surfer who finds the courage to get back into the ocean after having her arm bitten off by a shark.

The film is based on the inspriational true-life story of Bethany Hamilton, who will be played by AnnaSophia Robb.

Bethany lost her arm in the 2003 shark attack but courageously got back on her board and became a champion again just months later.

Carrie plays Sarah Hill, the church leader that inspires Bethany to get back into the water.

Bethany's parents, played by Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid, struggle with encouraging their daughter in a risky sport but are then faced with the threat of her career being cut short after the tragedy.

The film has been described as Blue Crush meeting 127 Hours but it is an inspirational tale of triumph over adversity.

In the trailer released this week, Carrie shows that she has the ability to light up a big screen in her movie debut.

The country music singer had a small role in hit TV series How I Met Your Mother last year to test out her acting chops.

The movie has already courted controversy when it was reported that the words Holy Bible were digitally removed from the cover of a Bible in a scene where Bethany's father Tom is reading scripture to his daughter.

The devout Christian family were relieved when they saw the final cut of the film to see it has been put back in.

'I could see the words bright and clear. I looked at my wife and whispered, "Thank you God, they put it back"', Tom Hamilton told The Hollywood Reporter.

It had apparently been taken out to soften the Christian element of the film so not to alienate non-Christian audiences.

In a new trailer for the upcoming comedy, the actress is seen flashing her incredible figure in tight Daisy Duke denim shorts as she gets lathered up in soap suds at a car wash.

The 38-year-old is also pictured smoking marijuana in a scene from the film in which she plays a raunchy educator looking for a man to take care of her.

Diaz also pairs up with her with her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake who plays another member of staff in the film due to be released in June this year.

The actress described the flick as 'filthy' but 'fun' and said she had given her seal of approval to Timberlake's role.

'We wanted Justin because he's such a brilliant comedian. He's so funny. He's very, very talented,' she said.

'You know what I love about hotels? How discreet they are. They always give you that little thing at the bottom - "Your room will be charged the same as any other room. Titles will be used"'.

Diaz was dressed like she was going to be a part of a circus.

Her black trousers, braces and white vest top - which showed her black bra underneath - looked more suited to an acrobat than a movie star.

The Charlie's Angel's star also showed off her very toned arm muscles, which have drawn comparisons with Madonna's sculpted physique in recent weeks.

But despite Diaz's muscular appearance, the actress revealed she was mocked for being skinny in school.

Diaz also made reference to the moment TV camera caught her feeding popcorn to beau Alex Rodriguez during the Super Bowl.

New 'Sucker Punch' Trailer Is Heart Pumping

A month away from the U.S. release of "Sucker Punch", Warner Bros. Pictures promotes the film by debuting a new trailer. It does not explain the storyline well since it has no dialogs, but it teases through the action scenes which see dragon, a lot of explosions and gun-totting battles.

Set to a song "Panic Switch" by alternative rock band Silversun Pickups, the new video debuted via "Sucker Punch" official website is also called Trailer Painter. It allows users to add in their own unique artwork into the trailer using simple photoshoppish tools by logging in through their own Facebook profiles.

"Sucker Punch" revolves around Emily Browning's Baby Doll who is brought to an asylum by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. Stuck in the place, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain. In that world, she plans her escape, needing to steal five objects to help her get out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone are cast as Baby Doll's entourage, with Carla Gugino, Jon Hamm and Scott Glenn landing other roles. "It is a super hardcore awesome girl power type character that I play called Blondie," Hudgens gushed about her role.

"I hope that people are going to be completely blown away," the actress added. "It is unlike anything you have seen me do before. Let's just say that I have a Tomahawk fight sequence - it is pretty cool." The movie is directed by Zack Snyder and will hit theaters across the nation on March 25.

But the former Friends star tried to ensure all eyes were on her by unveiling a new hairstyle last night during their latest stop in Spain.

It is not the first time Jennifer has cut her hair short.

Jennifer recently admitted she was perplexed by all the attention her haircut received during her time on Friends.

The Rachel - named after her character in the hit sitcom - remained popular for years even though the actress only wore the layered style for the first two seasons of the show.

'How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen,' she said in the February issue of US magazine Allure . 'What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs?'

The cut was originally created by Aniston's long-time hairstylist Chris McMillan, who still works with her today.

Trailer Premiere for 'Desert Flower' Based on Inspiring True Story

Apple has gotten its hand on a trailer for "Desert Flower" which tells the true story of famous Somali model Waris Dirie. The video starts with a preview of her life in the desert before she moves to a modern country where she struggles to make ends meet by working in an eatery before a fashion photographer finds her.

Dirie was catapulted to fame and fortune as a high fashion model after running away from an arranged marriage at age 13. But after years of living a glamorous life, the past comes back to haunt her, and she must face the childhood trauma that forever changed her destiny.

Liya Kebede portrays Dirie, joined by Sally Hawkins, Anthony Mackie, Timothy Spall and Juliet Stevenson on the cast ensemble. This drama will make its way out in limited U.S. theaters on March 18.

While the 42-year-old Friends star played it safe at the German premiere of their new movie Just Go With It in a classic LBD, Brooklyn took a chance with a more cutting-edge purple Max Mara jumpsuit that was slashed to the thigh.

The pair star alongside Adam Sandler, 44, with Jennifer playing a woman pretending to be plastic surgeon Sandler's soon-to-be-divorced wife rather than his actual assistant to cover up a lie told to his much-younger girlfriend, played by Decker.

Earlier, the trio had taken a photocall at Berlin's Hotel Adlon to promote the movie, ahead of the full-blown premiere at the city's CineStar cinema last night - with Jen still in top-to-toe black.

In Germany however, the title is Meine Erfundene Frau - or My Imaginary Woman.

The Daily Mail's film reviewer Chris Tookey clearly wished that the film had just been imagined rather than a reality that he had to sit through.

Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher, 33, has revealed that he's long been a fan of Jennifer's talents - and once asked Brad Pitt's permission to take her on a date.

New 'Transformers 3' TV Spot Features Some Dialogs

Packed with intense action sequences, the new snippet also shows dramatic moments as some characters speak their lines.

While waiting for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" full trailer, fans can get another sneak peek to the movie via a new TV spot. Debuted during Nascar Daytona 500 broadcast this weekend, the video has a few fresh scenes including the one which sees Shia LaBeouf's Sam Witwicky promising Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Carly that everything is gonna be "fine".

Trailer Premiere for 'Hesher' Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natalie Portman

Gordon-Levitt is a long-haired tattooed metal-head who enters the life of 13-year-old T.J., while Portman is an ugly-duckling who attracts the grieving boy.

Newmarket Films has dropped a trailer for "Hesher" which was premiered at 2010 Sundance Film Festival. It features Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Hesher, an apathetic loner pyromaniac who enters the life of a grieving family.

Hesher is the most unlikely person to help 13-year-old T.J. cope with the death of his mother, but he proves to be the only one who can truly free T.J. from his overwhelming sadness. The charismatic and dangerous Hesher drags T.J. out of loss and confusion by sheer force of will and gives the young boy and his grieving father a chance to be a family again.


Devin Brochu plays T.J., while Rainn Wilson portrays T.J.'s father. Also supporting the drama comedy is Oscar-nominated actress Natalie Portman who trades her "Black Swan" costume with big glasses to portray a young grocery clerk who steps in to protect T.J., and becomes the object of his fantasies.

"Hesher" is directed by Spencer Susser and is reportedly slated to come out in the U.S. in April. Before that, it will be screened at SXSW in March.

After being lucky enough to get a kiss from Cheryl Cole at the BRIT Awards last night, it would appear that Justin Bieber is a hit with many more English ladies.

The teen sensation was greeted by hundreds of screaming fans as he arrived at the O2 Cineworld in London tonight for the European premiere of his film Never Say Never.

And the crowds just got bigger and bigger, not only in an attempt to catch a glimpse of their heartthrob, but also to try and be lucky enough to land themselves a free ticket.

And the 16-year-old pop star seemed delighted to see his fanbase below him as he surveyed the crowd from a balcony above them.

And Justin sent them into ecstasy as he blew kisses to them from his podium and then went down to sign autographs and pose for pictures with them.

The singer arrived in the UK on Monday to attend the BRIT Awards last night where he was awarded Best International Breakthrough Artist.

Clutching a copy of Bieber's book 'First Step 2 Forever', Becky said: 'We love him because he's such an inspiration - he shows that you can come from nowhere and do something. Plus he's cute.'

Spare a thought for Ian Smith, 49, a network engineer who was recently made redundant. Not himself a 'Belieber', as some fans call themelves, he was in the thick of the crowd after being asked by his niece to go along and try to get Bieber's autograph for her as she couldn't go because she has flu.

He said: 'The screaming is ear-piercing but I think I've just about got used to it after six hours.'

Ashton Kutcher, expected live on the air with Lorraine Kelly yesterday morning at the ITV studios, was feeling worse for wear after a very late night out in Chinatown - during which he broke up a fight.

Being an A-list star, he managed to convince TV producers to allow him to conduct the interview from his hotel room.

But he had no such luxury later, and was spotted still looking under the weather as he arrived for his afternoon interview on BBC Radio 1.

Wearing jeans and a blazer with a purple shirt and matching socks, the 33-year-old clutched a large cup of coffee as he half-heartedly greeted fans outside the studio.
The actor, in town to promote No Strings Attached, had a pale face and circles under his eyes.

When radio host Scott Mills asked how he was feeling, Ashton groaned in response, saying sarcastically: 'Fantastic.'

He admitted to partying a little too hard the night before, and added: 'I broke up a fight in China town.'

He comically explained how he played peace maker using his martial arts skills.
Ashton also revealed how at last weekend's Super Bowl game in Dallas, that former President Geroge Bush was less than chummy towards him.

Kutcher, who was seated behind the politician in the VIP bow, said: 'I don't think he's very happy with me. He wasn't very nice, he snubbed me a little bit.
'I think I said some mean things during the election about him and I feel like he doesn't like me.

'When Mills asked if it was simply a case of Bush ignoring him, Ashton replied: 'No, a bit more than that actually.

'Just curt,' he added, explaining his greeting as 'more of a burp. He turned around and gave me this scowl.'

Kutcher added that inside the VIP booth nobody's text messages were working except the former Presidents.

'He was sitting there sending messages on his Blackberry,' Ashton said. 'And I'm behind him leaning over trying to see what he's writing.'

Reports today claim that Ashton had partied at a brothel-themed bar in China town until 3am with wife Demi Moore.

Ashton managed to get through his interview with Lorraine Kelly yesterday morning from his hotel suite, and later poked fun at the ITV host's accent with Scott Mills.
'She sounded very sincere, and was very nice,' he said in an exaggerated, sing-song Irish accent.

'She reminded me of Glenda, the good witch from the Wizard of Oz.'

While Ashton has been busy promoting No Strings Attached, his wife Demi has been getting down to the business of shopping.

The day before arriving in London, Demi was spotted hitting the designer stores of Paris with girlfriend Salma Hayek.

As the wife of fashion tycoon François-Henri Pinault, Salma has access to some of the world's top fashion houses, including Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga.

So while Kutcher attended interviews and photocalls for his latest film No Strings Attached - hilariously renamed as Sex Friends in France - the actresses splashed the cash in some of Paris' top boutiques.

In contrast to their usually glamorous red carpet looks, the two women looked casual yet stylish.

Mother-of-three Demi, 48, teamed a pair of skinny jeans with buckled ankle boots and a wool jacket, while Salma, 44, went for an all-black ensemble of leather skirt and boots, furry gilet and a fedora hat.

The pair visited Hermes and Lanvin, before stopping for lunch at the upmarket Hanawa restaurant.

Demi and Salma have been friends for many years and are rumoured to be teaming up in a new movie

Last summer, they were overheard talking about working together as they enjoyed a double-date with their husbands at the Avenue nightclub in New York.

Salma splits her time between Los Angeles and Paris - the latter being where her French husband spends most of the year running his PPR company.

Meanwhile, an equally casual Kutcher was across town promoting Friends With Benefits.
With his co-star Natalie Portman heavily pregnant and attending various awards due to her critically-acclaimed performance in Black Swan, it was left to the 33-year-old to promote it solo.

He kept photographers entertained by posing in front of a large poster of himself and Portman to pretend the actress was really there.

Few women want to look exactly like they did 20 years ago. After all, hairstyles and fashions move on don’t they?

But Nicole Kidman, 43, and Jennifer Aniston, 41, have somehow managed to keep their twenty- something complexions while ditching the heavy eyebrows and frizzy hair of their youth.

The actresses appeared together at the premiere of their romantic comedy Just Go With It in New York looking glossy and glamorous. And it seems that working together has made them the firmest of friends.

In a recent joint interview for a magazine, Miss Aniston told Miss Kidman: ‘Physically, you’re a masterpiece.’

Miss Kidman replied: ‘Excuse me, you wear a bikini in the film and you look like you’re 20 years old.’

Miss Aniston, who is divorced from Brad Pitt, said she had been single for 18 months and was ‘very happy’. Miss Kidman has two children with husband Keith Urban and two adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

And both ladies looked effortlessly glamorous at the screening of the film. Jennifer slipped into a strapless, floor-length black gown by Dolce & Gabbana which was split to the thigh and offered a tantalising glimpse of her toned legs.

Nicole, meanwhile, who was accompanied by Urban, went for a double leather look in a skirt and blazer by her favourite designer L'Wrenn Scott.

The 43-year-old added a demure blush-coloured shirt beneath and a pair of strappy black heels.

Both actresses went for understated, elegant looks while their younger co-star Brooklyn Decker celebrated her film debut with an eye-catching leopard-print dress.
The swimsuit model poured her curves into the sexy Dolce & Gabanna frock, which she teamed with purple heels.

Jennifer recently interviewed Nicole for Harper's Bazaar magazine, where the women gushed over each other's figures.

The Friends star recalls their first meeting - at the 2005 Golden Globes - where she was 'starstruck'.

Nicole retorts: 'Excuse me, you wear a bikini in the film and you look like you're 20 years old.'

'I think that's Vaseline on the lens,' Jennifer says.
'You are a freak of nature,' Nicole says. 'You have the best body I've ever seen. And I'm a heterosexual girl. You look good morning, noon, and night.'

In an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this month, Adam Sandler also complimented his co-stars' bikini bodies.

He said of Jennifer's: 'It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing. Jennifer works hard, she eats right, you know, she does.

'She never snacks on the stuff I snack on,' Sandler said.

Adam also had good things to say about Nicole's figure: 'She’s in ridiculous shape too.'

Jennifer added: 'Have you ever seen a six-pack like that?” I actually had to touch it.'

Just Go With It, which is due out on February 11, stars Adam Sandler as plastic surgeon Danny, who pretends to be married to attract women.

When he meets the woman of his dreams, played by Brooklyn, he has to rope in his office manager Katherine, played by Jennifer, and her children to complete the pretence.

Kidman puts in an eye-catching supporting role as the extremely competitive arch-nemesis.

The movie, which was filmed in Hawaii last year, is Sports Illustrated model Decker's first feature film.
